"I was a grown-ass man and if I wanted to burn a Bible then Sarah couldn't tell me not to.”
I first heard of Scott McClanahan through my October interview with Chelsea Hodson. I asked her to recommended an article for our tribe and she sent me “My Anger Problem” published in The Quietus. I loved this excerpt from McClanahan's book "Hill William" and told her so, which prompted her to recommended I read "The Sarah Book" next.
Well here I am currently reading it and needed to share it with you for Day 5 of #WODTmemoirmonth. Although this isn't technically a memoir, it is described as semi-autobiographical and sort of reads like non-fiction as the main character has Scott's name and also lives in West Virginia.
While his first book was all about how Sarah and Scott met, "The Sarah Book" is the aftermath, the dissolution of a relationship, with lots of drinking and an existential crisis.
This books has received notable praise since its publication in 2017 and I'm really looking forward to devouring it this weekend.
